Strategies to Become a Bookable Speaker

SYB-Blog-Bookable-Speaker-1200

Become a Bookable Speaker is a four-part podcast series, developed by Carol Cox, founder of Speaking Your Brand®, to help entrepreneurs, executives, and thought leaders land more speaking engagements.

Part 1: How to Get Your Next Speaking Engagements: The Bookable Speaker Checklist

If you’ve been sending speaker proposals and hearing nothing back, look at three things: relevance, reach, and relationships.

  • Does the organizer understand why your talk fits their audience?
  • Can they see evidence of you speaking?
  • And do people in your network know what you speak about well enough to recommend you?

Those are the three R’s we’re covering in this first episode of our Bookable Speaker podcast series.

Action Step: Download the Bookable Speaker Checklist.

Part 2: Social Media for Speakers – What We Do and Advice We Ignore

Get ready for some real opinions on how effective (or not) social media is for you as a speaker.

After all, if a post gets thousands of views but none of the right people see what you speak about, what did those views do for your speaking business?

Action Step: Before you make another content calendar, ask:

  1. Could an organizer find me? Search for yourself and look at the profiles a buyer would see.
  2. Could they tell what I speak about? Put your topic and audience in clear language, especially on LinkedIn.
  3. Could they picture me at their event? Share a speaking photo, video clip, talk description, testimonials, and other real evidence of your work.
  4. Am I meeting the right people? Build relationships with organizers, association leaders, fellow speakers, and people in the communities you serve.
  5. Can I keep this up? Choose a posting rhythm that doesn’t consume the time you need for your talks and clients.
  6. Is it working? Keep track of the source of inquiries and bookings, then adjust.

Part 3: Getting the AI Chatbots to Recommend You as a Speaker

Coming on October 19.

Part 4: Why Thought Leaders Get Paid More as Speakers
