What conference organizers want to see in your speaking proposals

speaking-back

I want to share with you an email I received earlier today from a friend of mine who runs a conference:

I wanted to send this to you as a perfect example of the type of pitch I receive. This happens to be excellent when it comes to providing me with info about this person’s background — but it leaves out the CRITICAL component – can this speaker help me to 1) sell tickets and 2) attract sponsors.

If you attended my webinar earlier this week or watched the replay, you’ll know that one of my main points regarding your speaking proposals is to keep in mind what conference organizers want: for you to provide value to their audience AND help them sell tickets.

That doesn’t mean that, as one of the speakers, you’re out there finding people to attend the conference (although you should be promoting it on your social media channels – it’s amazing how many speakers don’t do that).

It does mean that when you submit your proposal, you let the organizer know how selecting you helps them.

This is part of what we’ll cover in my 4-week Stand-Out Speakers online group coaching + mastermind program that starts October 3.

This is going to be a dynamic group! The women who’ve already signed up come from a variety of backgrounds and industries (corporate, freelance, coaching, medicine). Some have been speaking for a while and want to get better speaking engagements; others are focused on pitching podcasts they want to be on.

If you’re interested in joining us, the Early Bird Discount expires this Monday, September 26.

Have questions if the program is right for you? Email me at carol@speakingyourbrand.com and we can schedule a quick call.
