I’ll be speaking again at the Teaching and Learning with AI conference this summer!
Ever since ChatGPT launched 2-1/2 years ago, I’ve integrated generative AI into the business and marketing classes I teach at Full Sail University.
Students need to understand not only how AI will impact their work, but the strengths and weaknesses of AI tools and output. Especially in marketing, there are “tells” that ChatGPT has (hello, gratuitous use of em—dashes!).
I’m also concerned that students’ use of ChatGPT has/will become a crutch to shortcut learning communication and collaboration skills.
So, I’ve been incorporating ways for students to use AI that helps them improve these skills rather than bypass them.
My session is on May 28th at 1:30 pm on “Using AI to Improve Students’ Communication Skills through Collaborative Peer Learning and Feedback.”
A perennial issue in education is helping students improve their communication, critical thinking, and collaboration skills. Instead of viewing AI as a way for students to avoid refining these skills, why not leverage AI to do the opposite?
In this session, we’ll explore how educators can create opportunities for students to collaborate effectively, give and receive constructive feedback, and develop much-needed interpersonal skills using AI tools like ChatGPT as a guide and coach.
Through real-world examples, prompts, and actionable strategies, this session will equip faculty with practical ways to integrate AI into peer learning activities, both in the classroom and online.
